The sign uses the same handshapes and movements as the feelings for “afraid” or “scared”, however as phobia is a noun you should use the lip pattern of the word. Feelings in BSL require facial expressions that match the emotion. More complex words such as cynophobia (fear of dogs) are translated as PHOBIA DOGS in BSL.
